Loss of Beauty
When industrial animal factories and feedlots take over a rural area, they impose an architecture, infrastructure, and iconography upon the rural landscape. The installation of concentrated chicken, hog, and feedlot operations ultimately debases the beauty of rural areas. Animals are grown in windowless confinement facilities or on massive dirt feedlots that resemble factories and manufacturing operations. The CAFO system’s inherent industrial imagery and activities gradually erode a region’s local culture, natural charm, and inherent beauty.
